Red Rings of Death

Computer Programming has come again..........

Ok now lets talk about the Xbox 360 Red Rings of Death......

First thing is for people who don't know what is is.

"Three flashing red lights around the Xbox 360 power button (nicknamed the "Red Ring of Death"), in lieu of the one to four green lights indicating normal operation, represent an internal problem that requires service. Warning signs may include freeze-ups, graphical problems in the middle of gameplay, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen, and sound errors, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off.[citation needed] These events may happen once or several times until the hardware failure occurs, or not at all. If the console freezes occasionally, the error will not necessarily follow. When the error does occur, on the user's attempt to turn the console on the three red lights are seen and the console does not function. This error code is usually caused by failure of one or more hardware components, although it can indicate that the console is not receiving enough power from the power supply, which can either be due to a faulty power supply or if the power supply cable is not fully inserted into the console."(Wikipedia)

I just send my 360 in for repairs for the second time yesterday. It was free, because Microsoft extended the warranty after the first time it happened. Its free, so cost isn't the main problem. The process takes 2-6 weeks to complete!!! WHY?!?! Honestly Xbox 360 RROD(Red Rings of Death)cause the most hardware failures in gaming. Nintendo, Sony, etc, no one else has this big of a problem with their consoles. Microsoft even opened up a separate repair center in Texas to deal with all the repairs and complaints. AND IT STILL TAKES 2-6 WEEKS!! And that's 2-6 weeks after they receive the console, meaning that it takes 2-6 weeks not including shipping time. WTF!? You would think Microsoft would put more effort into solving this problem. I called my friend to see if I could use his Xbox 360 while mine was being repaired. He turned it on to check.....and he got Red Rings! WTF!?! Honestly if this happens again I'm going to argue for a new console because this is seriously kinda ridiculous. The person a talked to at the repair center told me that after this second time, all other RROD problems will be free, regardless of warranty. But really if its gonna to this every other month or something, then I really want to complain for a new 360.

  1. Damn, that sucks. My friend also had the same fate. The Xbox360 actually has the highest failure rate out of all three 7th generation gaming consoles. It's a shame but in my opinion, the Xbox360 doesn't really have good games. Plus, you have to pay for online service so Microsoft fails.

  2. Ok so if you think Microsoft fails then.....tell me why Microsoft ins beating the crap out of Sony in the gaming department? Why is Microsoft stealing away Sony exclusives like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. Even Assassins Creed was suppose to be a Sony exclusive but we all know that changed. Microsoft has exclusive series like Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Mass Effect, etc. And what does Sony have? God of War.....anything else that first comes to mind? Not really....even Gran Turismo, which has been a big PlayStation Exclusive, is being challenged by Xbox's Forza Motorsport. Both games have gotten great reviews, for racing games, but the lastest installments(Forza Motorsport 3 and Gran Turismo 5) have shown that Forza is taking an early lead in quality and poplularity. The only AMAZING games that Sony has are the games that come from developer Team Ico. They make the games Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and the upcoming title The Last Guardian. There are games like Rachet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Jak and Daxter, etc. are good games but nothing I would call must play. Also Mircosoft does make people pay for online play, but then explain why Xbox Live is more poplular than the PlayStation Network? Theres a reason why people pay for a Gold Xobx Live Account.

  3. I think you took that too personally. Final Fantasy is not a Playstation exclusive because it originally came out on Nintendo. I just like the Playstation much better than the Xbox because it has more of my type of games. Many of my favorite games are on PS and/or Nintendo platforms and not on the Xbox. Some of these games include Disgaea, Kingdom Hearts, Mana series, Persona, Megaman, etc. There are also many smaller titles that were great games on the Playstation as well. You can also play many of the Xbox games on the PC (which is most useful since you don't need to pay for the system itself). Sony is only getting defeated because there are too many pirates pirating the games. You also pirated your DS games; I highly doubt you actually bought the game and just backed it up. And I think you overlooked the, "but in my OPINION," part. I just said Microsoft fails because they already have a lot of money so why make users pay for using their servers? It's just ridiculous since Microsoft is a big company. The Xbox is not the greatest system ever made and nor is any other system. Basically, it's all in your taste. And my taste is just off on the Xbox.
