HOSA SLC 2010

It came time again for HOSA!! Wed been studying all year and it was time to show what we got. HOSA State Leadership Conference 2010 was in Ontario, CA...not Canada lol. Trust me...alot of people have asked me if it was in Canada.

Anyway, we got there at about 11am on Thursday March 11. The hotel didnt have our rooms ready, so we packed all 22 of us into 1 room. Christy, Josh, and me had the Kaiser Knowledge Exam at 1, so we changed and went, took the exam and everything was good. Then everyone had events so we all left. The rooms were ready when we cam back and it was all good.

Now in our rooms we had FOOD. Not just food....FOOD!!! Sure we had the usually snacks, chips, cup noodle, etc. Josh had his rice cooker, I had the water heater. But this year, Jiwon(1st time HOSA) brought uncooked Korean BBQ. Juile had an electric stove. So we stuck the stove halfway out the window and started cooking the meat. We had foil to catch the grease, and I was fanning the smoke and steam out the window so the room didnt smell and the fire alarm didnt go off. After 2 hours, all the meat was cooked, We ate, the room smelled like Korean BBQ for the rest of the trip.

I also brought my Nerf guns, which was fun. Kyle and I took the guns and kept barging into peoples rooms and attacking everyone and stuff. That was fun.

The biggest thing that we got into...Charades. It started out as something to fill 20 minutes, but it turned into a serious competition. First we started with basic charades. 2 teams, each team gives the other team a clue. Really basic. I left to take an exam and came back and it had transformed into a new type of charades haha. The new game was 3 people line up in a row facing each others back, the last person just looks at a wall or whatever. The clue is shown to the first person, the first person taps the shoulder of the 2nd person and the 2nd person turns around. The 1st person tries to charade the clue to the 2nd person, when the 2nd person gets it, the 2nd person taps the 3rd person then the 2nd person charades the clue to the 3rd person. The first team to get the 3rd person to correctly guess the clue is the winner. That was alot of fun, then we got back into regular charades but then it was really serious. Now you had a 1 minute time limit. If it was under 1 minute then the team gets 1 point, if its under 30 seconds then they get 2 points. If you dont know the clue or feel you cant do it, then you can pass it to a teammate, but the original person cannot help guess. We started getting really hard clues, and planning out certain clues to give to certain people, it just got really competitive.

In the actual HOSA competition, Reseda did very well. We got several medals and top 10 finishes. I got 2 top 10s. The trip was alot of fun. There was alot of drama on the trip that Im not going to get into now haha. But overall it was a great trip.
